課程概述

English Oral Training II (2) is the second course of the year-long course that aims to enhance students’ formal presentation skills in the English language. This semester, this course focuses on advanced principles of public speaking in academic/professional settings. Specifically, students will learn process and principles of argumentative speech through a variety of activities. Students will participate in group- and individual-led projects on guided or self-selected topics/issues. Students will reflect on their oral learning processes through maintaining written journals. Students will also receive constructive feedback from the instructor and their fellow students as they carry out different speaking tasks in class and out.

課程目標
This advanced oral training course aims to prepare students to be effective English speakers not only in their courses of the program, but also their professional life beyond it. By the end of the course, students will be able to (1) research on their own a topic of interest; (2) develop practical presentation skills; (3) have and explain their opinions in class discussions; (4) give supports or refutations on a certain issue; and (5) challenge and ask questions about news that they see in the press/media or popular culture.
